What this error means
Meta's review found something in the ad, its targeting or its destination that breaks a policy, so the ad can't run. Review covers the creative, the targeting and where the ad sends people, and ads can be reviewed again after they go live.
Meta's Ads Manager defines Rejected as: the ad can't run because it doesn't comply with Meta Advertising Standards.
What Meta shows
Why it happens
1Something in the creative breaks a policy
The image, video or text breaks one of the Advertising Standards, such as personal attributes or health claims.
How to tell if this is you: The rejection reason names a content policy.
2Deceptive or misleading offer
The ad promotes products, services or offers using deceptive or misleading practices.
How to tell if this is you: The offer promises results or prices the landing page does not deliver.
3The landing page doesn't match
The products and services in the ad must match those promoted on the landing page.
How to tell if this is you: The ad and the page it links to are about different things.
4Legal or discrimination issues
The ad doesn't comply with local law or discriminates against a group.
How to tell if this is you: The reason mentions discriminatory practices, or the product is regulated where you advertise.
How to fix it
Read the reason
- Open the link in the rejection email. It goes to Business Support Home and shows the reason.
Edit the ad to comply
For: Something in the creative breaks a policy, Deceptive or misleading offer, The landing page doesn't match
- Review the parts the policy covers: image, video, text, targeting or landing page.
- Edit the ad in Ads Manager or Meta Business Suite. Once edited, it is submitted for another review automatically.
- If the ad type can't be edited, create a new ad instead.
How to appeal or request a review
Request another review only if you believe the ad was incorrectly rejected. If the rejection is overturned it does not count as an ad violation.
- Go to Business Support Home.
- Select the account or catalog with the rejected ads.
- Select the ads, ad sets or campaigns you believe were incorrectly rejected.
- Click
Request reviewand selectSubmit.
What not to do
- Don't delete the rejected ad first: you may lose the ability to request another review.
- A second rejection is final for that ad. You will not be able to request another review of it.
How long it takes
Most ads are reviewed within 24 hours, though some take longer. After a review request, Meta aims to give a decision within 48 hours.
How to stop it happening again
- Make sure what the ad promotes matches the landing page.
- Fix the cause rather than repeating it: severe or repeated violations can restrict your account.
- Remember that editing or deleting a rejected ad doesn't remove the violation from your account.
From my desk
It varies by industry, so I would not name one. What I do every time is read the exact policy named in the notice before changing anything. Editing blindly wastes time and can stack new problems onto the ad.

Why was my Facebook ad rejected?
Meta rejects ads that break local law, discriminate, use deceptive or misleading practices, or don't follow the Community Standards, Advertising Standards or Commerce Policies. The exact reason is in Business Support Home.
Should I edit the ad or request a review?
Edit it if something really breaks a policy: the edit is reviewed automatically. Request a review only if you believe it was incorrectly rejected.
Does a rejected ad hurt my account?
Editing or deleting it doesn't remove the violation, and severe or repeated violations can lead to restrictions. A rejection that is overturned on review doesn't count as a violation.
Can I delete the rejected ad and start again?
You can, but you may lose the ability to request another review of it.
How long does the review take?
Most ads are reviewed within 24 hours, sometimes longer. Meta aims to decide on a review request within 48 hours.
