Google Ads Appeal Rejected: What to Do Next

Last checked against Google's documentation. By Muhammed Abdul Kalam. Blocks some ads

Quick fix

Google ads appeal rejected usually means the ad still breaks the policy, or the review didn't see your fix. Fix the ad and its destination first. If an appeal fails or is marked duplicate, make a small edit to the ad text or final URL to force a new crawl, wait at least 24 hours, and don't appeal repeatedly.

  • Read the policy detail in the Policy details column.
  • Fix the ad and its destination, then save to resubmit.
  • Make a small text or final URL edit to force a new crawl.
  • Wait at least 24 hours before appealing the same ad again.

What this error means

A rejected appeal means the ad stays disapproved. Often the policy problem is still there, or the review used an old crawl. A disapproved ad can't run until the violation is fixed and the ad is reviewed again.

Why it happens

1The violation is still there

The ad or its landing page still breaks the policy that was cited.

How to tell if this is you: The Policy details column still shows the same policy.

2The fix wasn't re-crawled

A minor edit to the ad text or final URL forces a new crawl.

How to tell if this is you: You fixed the page but the appeal was decided on old content.

3Appeals too close together

Appeals for the same ads within 24 hours are marked as duplicates.

How to tell if this is you: The appeal status says duplicate.

4Reached the appeal limit

After 3 unsuccessful appeals on one ad you must contact support.

How to tell if this is you: The Appeal option is no longer offered for that ad.

5Account suspension appeal

Account suspensions are appealed from the Contact Us notification, and reinstatement is rare.

How to tell if this is you: The whole account is suspended, not one ad.

How to fix it

Fix the ad properly

For: The violation is still there

  1. Hover over Disapproved in the Status column and read the policy.
  2. Edit the ad to comply with the policy and save.
  3. Or point the ad at a different compliant landing page.

Force a fresh review

For: The fix wasn't re-crawled, Appeals too close together

  1. Make a minor edit to the ad text or final URL and save it.
  2. Wait at least 24 hours between appeals.

Contact support after 3 failed appeals

For: Reached the appeal limit

  1. After 3 unsuccessful appeals you can't appeal that ad again until you contact Google Ads support.

How to appeal or request a review

Appeal once you've fixed the problem, or if you believe the review got it wrong.

  1. Open Policy manager.Tools then Troubleshooting then Policy manager
  2. On the Policy issues tab, select Appeal on the affected ad.
  3. Under Reason for appealing, choose Dispute decision or Made changes to comply with policy, then submit.

What to include

  • Pick the reason that matches what happened: you're disputing the decision, or you've made changes to comply.

What not to do

  • Don't keep resubmitting an appeal that failed or was marked as a duplicate. Make a small edit to the ad text or final URL and save it instead, which makes Google crawl the page again.
  • Don't appeal the same ads again within 24 hours. Appeals inside that window are marked as duplicates.
  • Don't waste attempts. After 3 unsuccessful appeals on one ad, you can't appeal it again until you contact Google Ads support.

How long it takes

Google reviews most ads within one business day, though some take longer. If an ad is still under review after more than 2 full business days, check its status; after more than a week, contact Google Ads support.

How to stop it happening again

  • Read the policy fully before editing and resubmitting.
  • Check the destination as well as the ad text.
  • Fix the issue before every appeal.

From my desk

Before the next try, I reread the policy and the exact reason, then check whether the cause is really gone. That means the website, ads and business details, not only the one thing I assumed. I appeal again through Google's own form, and only when I can truthfully say what changed.
