Meta Requires an Explicit Advantage+ Audience Setting for Housing, Employment and Credit Ads (July 2026)
Meta Ads Product feature Rolling out Announced Rollout: 29 July 2026 to end not stated Last verified
Quick answer
From Marketing API version 26.0, a Housing, Employment or Financial Products and Services ad set that uses relaxable targeting outside a broad setup needs an explicit Advantage+ audience value. Omitting it now returns an error rather than falling back to a default.

What changed
- Until now the Advantage+ audience field was optional for these ad sets, and omitting it meant Meta quietly applied its default behaviour.
- From version 26.0, creating one of these ad sets with relaxable targeting in a non-broad setup requires the field to be set to 1 or 0.
- Leaving the field out returns an error naming the explicit Advantage+ audience flag.
- Meta states broad or default audience setups are unaffected.
- Meta says the requirement reaches every version once the previous one is deprecated, and has not confirmed that date.
Who is affected
- Advertisers and tools creating Housing, Employment or Financial Products and Services ad sets through the Marketing API.
What to check this week
- Check whether any tool that creates special ad category ad sets for you sets the Advantage+ audience field explicitly. Recommended in the platform documentation: read the official page
