Facebook Ads Manager Results Do Not Match Shopify: Why and What to Check
Quick fix
Facebook Ads Manager results do not match Shopify because the two count differently. Meta reports purchases attributed to your ads within an attribution window, including after views, while Shopify counts every order. Line up the attribution window, time zone and conversion date, compare raw pixel fires in Events Manager, and check for duplicate pixel fires.
- Set Meta and Shopify to the same time zone.
- Compare raw pixel fires in Events Manager with Shopify orders.
- Check for duplicate pixel fires.
- Check Shopify data sharing is set to Enhanced or Maximum.

What this error means
Meta and Shopify measure different things. Ads Manager shows purchases attributed to your ads, counted by your attribution setting and sometimes modelled when data is missing. Shopify shows every order. Some gap is expected; a large one usually points to settings or tracking problems.
Why it happens
1Different windows, time zones or dates
Attribution windows, time zones and conversion-date settings don't match.
How to tell if this is you: The gap shifts when you change the date range or attribution setting.
2Duplicate pixel fires (Meta higher)
Duplicate pixel fires, sometimes caused by redirects, inflate Meta conversions.
How to tell if this is you: Meta reports more purchases than Shopify has orders.
3Blocked or missing events (Meta lower)
With Standard sharing, browser ad blockers can stop the pixel; piggybacked tags can also lose events.
How to tell if this is you: Meta reports far fewer purchases than Shopify.
4Different purchase values
Currency, decimals, or totals that include taxes and duties.
How to tell if this is you: Order counts match but revenue does not.
How to fix it
Align the reports
For: Different windows, time zones or dates
- Match attribution windows in both tools.
- Set both to the same time zone.
- Pick the same conversion date basis: Meta can report by conversion time or impression time.
Check the tracking
For: Duplicate pixel fires (Meta higher), Blocked or missing events (Meta lower), Different purchase values
- Compare raw pixel fires in Events Manager with Shopify.
- Look for duplicate pixel fires with the Meta Ads Data Advisor extension.
- In Shopify, open Sales channels > Facebook & Instagram > Settings > Data sharing settings and choose Enhanced or Maximum.
- If counts match but revenue differs, check currency and decimal places in purchase events.
How long it takes
Meta doesn't publish a timeline for this.
How to stop it happening again
- Keep both platforms on the same time zone from day one.
- Use server-side sharing so ad blockers do not drop purchases.
From my desk
An exact match is not realistic, because the two count differently through attribution windows, view-through and tracking gaps. A healthy setup tends to land in the same neighbourhood, and I care more about the trend than the gap. A large difference sends me to the pixel, Conversions API and duplicate events.

Why does Facebook show more purchases than Shopify?
Often duplicate pixel fires, sometimes caused by redirects, or view-through attribution that Shopify does not use.
Why does Facebook show fewer purchases than Shopify?
Meta only counts purchases attributed to your ads, and browser ad blockers can stop the pixel on Standard data sharing.
Which Shopify data sharing level should I use?
Enhanced or Maximum add the Conversions API, which sends purchases server to server and can't be blocked by browser ad blockers.
Does Meta estimate some purchases?
Yes. Where events cannot be counted directly due to partial or missing data, statistical modelling may be used.
Why does revenue differ when orders match?
Check currency and decimal places in purchase events. Shopify sends the order total including duties, taxes and discounts.
