Kalam's adviceExport at full vertical resolution and let TikTok compress it. Re-uploading a compressed copy from another app makes it softer every time.

TikTok marks vertical as the recommended shape for in-feed ads.

Kalam's adviceShoot ads the way people film TikToks: vertical, close, talking to camera. A polished horizontal ad cropped to fit looks like an ad and gets swiped.

TikTok sizes: FAQs

What size should a TikTok video be?

TikTok accepts video between 360 and 4096 px on each side, at 23 to 60 frames per second and up to 4 GB. For ads it recommends vertical 9:16 at 540 x 960 px or more (540 by 960 pixels).

How long can a TikTok video be?

All creators can post 3-minute videos, and some accounts can post 5 or 10 minutes. In-feed ads can run up to 10 minutes.

What size are TikTok ads?

Vertical 9:16 is recommended, at 540 x 960 px or more. TikTok also takes 16:9 at 960 x 540 px or more and 1:1 at 640 x 640 px or more, up to 500 MB.

What size is a TikTok ad profile photo?

98 x 98 px, square, under 50 KB, as JPG or PNG. Keep the key element inside the centre 66 x 66 px so it isn't cropped.

What is the file size limit for TikTok photo posts?

Each image can be up to 20 MB, in WebP or JPEG, at a maximum of 1080p.

Where is the TikTok ad safe zone?

TikTok publishes its in-feed safe zones as downloadable template files rather than numbers, because the safe area depends on the shape, caption length and add-ons. Use the template for your format; the only safe size TikTok states in text is the centre 66 x 66 px of the profile photo.
