Quick fix

Google merchant center products disapproved means they stop showing across Google until the issue is fixed. The common cause is data that doesn't match your website, especially price and availability. Open Products, then Needs attention, edit and re-upload the product data, then request a review. Reviews can take up to 7 business days.

  • Open Needs attention under Products to find affected products.
  • Match price and availability to the landing page.
  • Edit the data and re-upload it.
  • Confirm you fixed the issue, then select Request review.

What this error means

A disapproved product stops showing on Google until its issue is fixed. Most often the product data doesn't match the website, doesn't follow the data specification, or breaks a Shopping policy. Warnings are different: those products keep showing with limited performance.

Why it happens

1Price or availability mismatch

Preemptive item disapproval is triggered by differences between data and the landing page.

How to tell if this is you: The issue mentions price or availability.

2Website problems

Blocked crawling or an unavailable or redirecting landing page can lead to disapproval.

How to tell if this is you: The landing page errors, loads slowly or redirects.

3Data does not follow the specification

Missing or wrong attributes cause product-level issues.

How to tell if this is you: The issue names an attribute.

4Country-specific policy differences

Products targeting several countries can be disapproved in only some.

How to tell if this is you: The product is approved in one country but not another.

How to fix it

Fix the data

For: Price or availability mismatch, Data does not follow the specification

  1. Find the product under Needs attention.
  2. Edit the product data and re-upload it.
  3. Confirm pricing and availability match your landing pages exactly.
  4. Turn on automatic updates to cut price and availability mismatches.

Fix the website

For: Website problems

  1. Make sure robots.txt is not blocking Googlebot.
  2. Make sure the landing page loads and goes to the specific product page.

How to appeal or request a review

Request a review once the fix is live, or disagree if you believe the finding is a mistake.

  1. If you resolved the issue, confirm it as fixed, then select Request review.
  2. Or choose to disagree with the finding, then select Request review.
  3. If you list through a third-party platform, request the review in that platform.

What to include

  • Make sure the product data source is not empty.

What not to do

  • Don't use your one chance to disagree unless you can support the request.
  • Don't expect support to shorten a cool down: after an unresolved second review attempt, a one-week cool down may begin.

Open Google's review page

How long it takes

Reviews may take up to 7 business days. Approved products become eligible to show across Google within 24 hours.

How to stop it happening again

  • Keep price and availability in the feed in sync with the website.
  • Turn on automatic updates.
  • Check the Needs attention tab regularly.

From my desk

Price or availability that differs from the product page, missing identifiers like GTIN, and image or policy problems come up often. I start in the Diagnostics page, read what Merchant Center flags, and fix whatever affects the most products first. Matching the feed to the live page is usually step one.
